In a wild case of someone not realizing that Never Been Kissed wasn’t intended as an instruction manual, a 32-year-old Massachusetts woman has been arrested after it was discovered she had been posing as a student at three separate high schools.

Her lies were unraveled earlier this month after a man claiming to be her father told administrators at one Jamaica Plain school that he was withdrawing his daughter from the school due to bullying. Administrators found this odd, as she had only been at the school for a week; concerned that custodial issues between the parents might be the problem, they asked the district for all of the student’s enrollment paperwork and discovered that the social worker named in her file didn’t exist.

From there, administrators learned that the woman had used aliases to enroll at two other Boston area schools during the 2022-23 school year. In a statement released to the media, superintendent Mary Skipper said, “I am deeply troubled that an adult would breach the trust of our school communities by posing as a student. This appears to be a case of extremely sophisticated fraud.” (While fraudulently attending three high schools, the woman was also working as a social worker.)

Students who were interviewed by Boston’s WCVB News said that the woman didn’t look 32, and that they didn’t question her right to be attending classes alongside them for a second. They added that she was “really nice” and “not weird or nothing.”

Her motivation for wanting to return to a place most people can’t wait to escape from is still unknown, although she is now reportedly receiving mental health treatment, giving this saga a much sadder ending than Drew Barrymore’s hit 1999 romcom.
